We say
We'd struggle to find anywhere in the UK more blessed with stark natural beauty and unspoilt wilderness than Snowdonia National Park. Aside from hiking and biking, you can have a go at climbing and rafting, along with visits to castles, historic railways and former slate mines. For full immersion, rent a cottage inside the National Park.

Rural Retreats says

From the peaks of Mount Snowdon to deep woodland valleys – and a smattering of ancient castles – Snowdonia National Park is a haven for lovers of the great outdoors.

  • True wilderness
  • Walking trails
  • Lovely cottages

There are few better destinations in the UK for climbing, walking and mountain biking – whatever your level of fitness and appetite for pushing your physical limits. However, there is so much more to see and do in Snowdonia. Historic sites include Caernarfon Castle, the National Slate Museum, Welsh Highland Railway and the magical Ynys Enlli (Bardsey Island). And there are all sorts of other sporting activities available from white water rafting to surfing, fishing and golf.

We have hand-picked just 15 cottages, sleeping between two and eight people, within the Snowdonia National Park. They are all packed with character with jaw-dropping wide open spaces on the outside and charm and comfort inside.

Minafon is one of 10 beautifully-restored cottages on the Bodnant Estate – underfloor heating and a log burner will keep couples cosy and the countryside views will enchant you. It’s full of romance. And for something completely different, couples can stay in this converted 1930s fairground traveller’s wagon.

Tucked away two fields from the nearest lane, escape to Bryn Rhydd Рthis two-bedroom cottage has incredible views towards the Carneddau mountains and has been beautifully renovated.

Also on the Bodnant Estate, Lletty is a spectacular house with four bedrooms which dates back to the 17th century. It’s packed with period features and has an annexe for another couple or one or two teenagers.
