Sleep in a dome

We say
A futuristic, geodesic dome set within the North Yorkshire Wolds. It might be set on a farm, but this isn’t a wellies-and-sleeping-bag experience. These domes are luxurious - more boutique hotel than campsite. Jane’s Dome is one of the cutest cafes we’ve frequented, strewn with fairylights and dotted with a handful of candle-lit tables. Get that back-to-nature outdoorsy vibe without giving up your creature comforts.

Recommended place to stay: The Private Hill

The Private Hill says

Head to our unique “low density” hideaway for a total escape here at Thrussendale Farm; ours is a place where you can re-energise in the breathtaking North Yorkshire Wolds, gaze across the Vale of York and enjoy hotel-standard accommodation in one of our four geodesic domes.

  • North Yorkshire Wolds
  • Luxury touches
  • Book the whole place

Located far away from the working farm, each dome is furnished with comfort in mind, including an en suite shower room and well-equipped kitchenette. Each has a king-size bed and additional sleeping facilities for up to two children. A wood burning stove will keep you toasty and warm on cool evenings and there’s polar-level insulation, heating and a dehumidifier.

Also on site, there’s Jane’s Dome, our own licensed café and bar which serves delicious food – we even offer ‘room’ service.

There’s so much to see and do in the local area. Feel free to bring your own mountain bikes, go on a walking tour with our Alpacas, spend a day in the beautiful city of York (25 minutes’ drive away) and explore some of the local villages, market towns and historic sites such as Castle Howard. For a family day out, there’s Flamingo Land too.

You can opt to book all four domes for a gathering of family and friends or book just one for a romantic escape.
