Isle of Wight

We say
Deeply etched into the history of English summer holidays, the Isle of Wight still delivers traditional seaside pleasures along with a host of other activities. Enjoy a walk on the rolling chalk downs, take to the Solent in a sailboat or sample the mouthwatering local produce. The 30-minute ferry journey is always an exciting start to any visit.

Island Cottage Holidays says

Tennyson, Dickens, Keats, Lewis Carroll and Virginia Woolf are amongst the many literary greats to be inspired by the natural beauty of the Isle of Wight. It was also a favourite of Queen Victoria, whose beloved Osborne House is one of the island’s most popular attractions.

  • Hand-picked cottages
  • Walking and cycling
  • Great for families

What draws people to the island? Its sheer diversity for one thing: there are 60 miles of beaches, dramatic chalk cliffs, sweeping valleys and ancient woodland, as well as a host of attractions, events, activities, pubs and restaurants.

More than half of the island is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with miles of footpaths and cycle routes to enjoy.

With frequent ferry services from Lymington, Portsmouth and Southampton, it’s easy to reach with or without your car.

We have hand-picked more than 60 cottages sleeping from two up to 14, the majority of which have received Visit England awards of 4-star and above. Some are also wheelchair accessible. You can opt for a rural or coastal location.

Romantics will find the period charm and quirkiness of The Clock Tower Cottage hard to beat. Set in a secluded spot overlooking Ventnor Park, the beach and restaurants are just a five minute stroll away.

Check out our dog-friendly properties such as Upper Dolcoppice Farmhouse, which accepts up to four dogs (as well as nine humans!). Set in 33 acres, this airy stone farmhouse has underfloor heating and a log-burner for cosy winter breaks too.

Get together with friends in one of our larger houses such as Bonny Blink Cottage, a grand beachfront house with accommodation for up to ten.

We offer midweek and weekend breaks as well as longer stays – many properties have a Friday changeover day so you can finish work, settle in for a relaxing dinner and wake up ready to explore or simply chill out in your home away from home.
