Tour of China

Mark and David's verdict
Beijing's Olympic legacy goes way beyond the Bird's Nest stadium. Stylish hotels, gleaming new airports and improved road and rail infrastructure mean there has never been a better time to witness the dizzying mix of old and new in the Chinese capital, along with the superstar cities of Shanghai and Xian.

Cox & Kings says

Our 10-day China Experience tour is the perfect introduction to this fast-changing and fascinating country. It can be taken either in a small escorted group or as a private journey.

  • Expert guides
  • Fascinating destination
  • First class hotels

Our tour begins in the vibrant capital, Beijing. The success of the 2008 Olympic Games showcased the extraordinary architectural boldness that is rapidly becoming China’s hallmark, although in Beijing it is still possible to explore historic sites such as the Forbidden City and the narrow hutongs (backstreets).

No tour of China would be complete without a visit to the Great Wall. At Cox & Kings, we steer clear of the crowded sections and take you to the Jinshanling Pass, a dramatic and relatively untouched part of the wall.

Next, on to Xian to see the spectacular Terracotta Warriors, before visiting the former Ming dynasty capital of Nanjing on the Yangtze River. The tour ends amid the gleaming splendour of China’s most vibrant city, Shanghai. As with most Cox & Kings tours, sightseeing with an English-speaking guide is included and the accommodation is first class.
