Your cultural fix

Cathy's verdict:

Solo culture vultures will love this new travel brand, designed to make cultural travel more affordable. Expert speakers accompany the short breaks, many with low single supplements, including a choice of art, architecture, archaeology, history and music, all combining group activities and free time.

Each trip is accompanied by an expert speaker and has an engaging itinerary combining sightseeing, lively talks, some group dinners and free time for you to explore at leisure.

Accommodation is in three-star and four-star hotels with breakfast included and group sizes are between 20 and 30 (with all departures guaranteed this coming season).

We offer a range of short breaks and longer trips. They always attract a high proportion of solo travellers – we do have to pass on hotel supplements for single room occupancy but, on some departures, we have negotiated particularly low supplements.

Our four-night Villas of the Veneto trip is based in gorgeous Vicenza and takes in the most impressive villas from the 16th to the 19th centuries, not least the extraordinary work of Palladio. The single supplement is just £90.

Power & Patronage in Florence delves in to the world-class collections of paintings, frescoes and sculptures of the Renaissance, in the company of our expert art historian. Travelling in February, you’ll avoid the crowds too. The single supplement is £100.

Explore the architecture of historic Salamanca, Segovia and Ávila on our Art in Castile & Leon tour. Take in breathtaking cathedrals, haunting monasteries, hilltop castles and walled villages on the week-long itinerary. Three group dinners with wine are included.

Closer to home, our Historic Houses of the South West visits nine diverse but equally impressive properties such as Montacute House, Sherborne Castle (formerly the home of Sir Walter Raleigh), Stourhead and Lacock Abbey.

On all our trips, we include all local travel in a comfortable coach, admission fees, expert talks and a trip assistant who is there to smooth the way throughout. Travel to and from the start and end points is not included.
