Walking for women

Cathy's verdict
One of the best ways to discover a destination is on foot, so a group trip is ideal if you’d rather not wander solo. Walking Women goes one step further, arranging female-only tours. The selection includes easy rambles, high Alpine treks, and photography, sailing and wild swimming trips, some with no single supplement.

WalkingWomen says

We organise a wide range of walking and trekking holidays in the UK, Europe and further afield – all of them are exclusively for women.

With fun, flexible itineraries and a relaxed atmosphere, our trips attract women of all ages, almost all from the UK.

Each trip is graded according to the level of difficulty from easy access walking to high alpine walking.

We offer a range of short breaks in the UK, longer UK and overseas walking holidays and have specialist weeks such as sailing, photography and wild swimming plus departures specifically for lesbians.

Accommodation is in a range of smaller hotels, hostels, guesthouses and lodges, all selected primarily for their location. Options range from single rooms up to dormitories.

There is no single supplement on some departures and there is always a wide range of ages, generally from mid-30s to late-60s – all are welcome. Group sizes are usually 10 or 11 people with a guide and most people are travelling solo. It makes for a warm and friendly atmosphere amongst women who share a love for walking and the great outdoors.

Well-behaved dogs are permitted on some of our holidays.
