UK walking holidays

Cathy's verdict
The British countryside is made for exploring on foot, and Ramblers Walking Holidays has negotiated no single supplements on walking tours from Guernsey and Cornwall to the Isle of Arran. It even has its own welcoming country house in the Lake District which is consistently popular with single travellers, with a supplement of only £5 a night.

In the UK, we have negotiated no single supplements on a wide range of our holidays. These include The Furness Peninsula & Southern Lakes, and Guernsey in the Channel Islands.

The Lake District is home to our own Hassness Country House on the shores of Buttermere. We charge only a £5 per night supplement for a single room and, with up to 20 guests, there is a house party atmosphere. Our hosts, Brian, Carole and Ruby ensure a warm welcome and delicious home-cooked food from hearty breakfasts to scrumptious cakes. Join one of our Hassness walking holidays with qualified leaders to guide the organised walks and packed lunches and dinner on most evenings included in the price.

Some of the particularly popular holidays based at Hassness include Women’s Activity Week, designed for those who want to up their fitness levels or simply enjoy a more active holiday. There’s a morning jog, hill walking, some aerobics, Pilates and yoga classes – and the option to take a dip in the lake. Feeling busy, maybe a little stressed? Get away from life’s distractions and take some time to reflex on our Mindfulness in the Mountains holiday.
