UK short breaks

Our verdict:

Whether you're taking your first solo holiday or looking for a short break close to home, a UK getaway is ideal - and a weekend exclusively for singles guarantees you'll have plenty of like-minded company as well as your own time to explore or relax in private.

Recommended tour operator: Solitair Holidays

Solitair Holidays says

We specialise in holidays and short breaks worldwide for those who want to travel on their own, enjoy the privacy of their own room but also meet up with other solo travellers in a fun, unforced and convivial atmosphere.

  • themed weekends
  • singles only
  • your own double room

Our UK short breaks are a great way to meet others – and it’s the ideal starting point if you’re considering your first experience travelling solo.

Our UK short breaks are particularly popular amongst the over-50s (but not exclusively so) and you can choose from a range of styles from a country house hotel on the edge of Sherwood Forest to an ABBA tribute weekend in Hampshire.

Other options include an Easter break in Chester and a ’70s tribute weekend in Cheshire (for over-50s only).

All of our weekend breaks in the UK include breakfast and a three-course dinner with a half bottle of wine, as well as the specified activities, a double or twin room for single occupancy and the comfort of knowing there’s one of our experienced group leaders on hand throughout. We organise an ‘ice-breaker’ get-together to start most of our weekend breaks.

We also offer one-night mini-cruises in the UK and a one-night Valentines Dance in Bedfordshire for ages 30 to 59.

Further afield, our holidays include beach holidays (some of them in hotels exclusively for our guests) plus golf, ski, cruising and walking holidays for singles aged 30 and over.

All our trips include membership of Club Solitair, our online community with opportunities to meet and network with solo travellers, search for fellow solo travellers in your local area, find friends from previous trips, post photos and chat with other travellers.
