UK cultural tours

Cathy's verdict:

History, literature, gorgeous gardens: these small group tours are the ideal way to indulge your interests in the company of like-minded people. Take exclusive peeks at England’s stately homes and castles, or let expert guides reveal the secrets of some of the UK’s loveliest scenery and ancient buildings.

Martin Randall Travel says

We specialise in cultural tours for small groups, which are imaginative and meticulously planned, often with private visits to places not normally open to the public and always in the company of an expert guide.

  • expert-guided groups
  • popular with solos
  • some solos-only trips

Around 30% of guests in our groups are solo travellers, and on a selection of tours there is no single supplement; rooms allocated are generally a double or twin for sole occupancy.

In 2019, we are running five tours exclusively for solo travellers. You can explore the magnificent palaces and art collections of St Petersburg; we head to Samarkand and the Silk Road cities of Uzbekistan: and unveil the dazzling historical treasures of Sicily. New solo departures for 2019 include Jordan and the South of France.

Based in the delightful Castle Hotel in Taunton, our Age of Victoria weekend symposium (which has no single supplement) explores the Victorian era with expert historians, each speaking on their specialist topics including Victorian art, technology, literature, politics and society.

Join one of our groups for the company of like-minded travellers, an informative guide and fascinating insights. Where we have single supplements, most are subsidised by ourselves, sometimes by hundreds of pounds.
