Horseback adventures

Our verdict:

If you love horses, why not saddle up for a riding adventure in one of the world’s most spectacular landscapes. It’s a great way to immerse yourself in a country, encounter local wildlife and get to know other members of your small organised group. Destinations include Cuba, Jordan, Mongolia, Chile and the deserts of Rajastan.

Wild Frontiers says

Saddle up with us for an adventure on horseback. For equine enthusiasts there are few better ways of witnessing the wonders of nature than on a horse riding holiday.

  • expert-guided groups
  • popular with solos
  • room share option

With a maximum group size of 10 – and more than 70% travelling solo – each trip is designed by our team of specialists to offer unique riding experiences across some of the most dramatic landscapes on the planet.

Ride high in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, gallop across the vast steppe of Mongolia, traverse the Chilean Andes with local gauchos or explore the tropical beaches of Mozambique.

You can discover the deserts of Rajasthan, riding royal Marwari horses across their heartland, along flat, sandy river beds, through rolling sand dunes and past age-old granite mountains to visit ancient temples and rural villages.

Our holidays are ideally suited to the solo traveller – you can discover new places with the security of travelling in a small, organised group.

Our MD and founder is Jonny Bealby, whose epic 3,000-mile journey on horseback along the Old Silk Road from Kashgar in China to the Caspian Sea in 1999 inspired him to set up Wild Frontiers (and it was the subject of his book ‘Silk Dreams, Troubled Road: On Horseback through Central Asia’).

The former champion jockey, Richard Dunwoody, is one of our specialist tour leaders, all of whom are passionate about riding, discovery and shared experiences on horseback.

If you are happy to share a room with a fellow traveller of the same sex, you will pay no single supplement – occasionally you may even end up with your own room. Single rooms can also be booked for a very reasonable supplement.

We also offer cultural tours and walking holidays.
