Central Asia overland

Cathy's verdict
There’s nothing like the thrill of heading off the beaten track to find adventure – and the ancient Silk Road is guaranteed to inspire wanderlust. With around 75% travelling alone and overland itineraries lasting from five days to 11 weeks or longer, these trips are ideal if you’re discovering Central Asia solo.

Oasis Overland says

We’re passionate about overland adventure. We custom-build our own overland trucks and we only employ like-minded adventure-mad drivers, team leaders and support staff who are knowledgeable about our destinations and really care about every aspect of your experience.

  • challenging adventures
  • great value for money
  • unique experiences

Our travellers come from all walks of life and are of all ages, from gap year students to older professionals and retirees. All share a passion for travel, adventure and a mix of social time and “me time”. Solo travellers generally make up around 75% of our groups.

It’s a great way to see the world without breaking the bank – you can enjoy an eight-week trip for under £2,000. There’s no single supplement for solo travellers as we pair you up with someone of the same sex to share a tent or room (in hotels, there is often an option to pay for a single supplement if you prefer to have your own room).

We offer overland adventures in Africa, South America, Morocco, Egypt and Jordan but our fastest-growing region is Central Asia, with itineraries from five days to 11 or more weeks.

Overland Adventures are the core of our business. Group sizes are a maximum of 24 with two crew. Everyone mucks in – setting up on camp nights, cooking on some nights and sharing stories over a camp fire, often forging friendships for life.

Bishkek to Ashgabat is a 20-day overland adventure along the ancient Silk Road trading routes through Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Discover the cities of Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent as well as the Kara-Kum Desert and marooned ships of the Aral Sea.

If you have more time, join our 20-day Bishkek to Ashgabat adventure through Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

Our Ultimate Expeditions are “proper” adventures with longer itineraries through more challenging terrain. Some are ideal for those taking a gap year or career break. For example, you could take 23 weeks to travel overland from the UK to Cape Town.

If you want to take your children, we also offer family adventures which work brilliantly for single parents.
