Gwel an Mor

Our verdict:

There's something unique about Cornwall's Atlantic coast - perhaps it’s the drama, huge waves rolling onto wide sandy beaches. Stay in one of the five-star lodges at Gwel an Mor and you're just ten minutes from the beautiful beach at Portreath, surrounded by lush countryside. Alongside the lodges there's a heated pool, restaurant and a full programme of kids’ activities.

Recommended place to stay: Gwel an Mor

Gwel an Mor says

Located on the north coast of Cornwall, just off the A30, our luxury self-catering resort is the perfect choice for a short break with family, friends or your loved one.

You’ll find our spacious five-star Scandinavian-style wooden lodges comfortable, attractively-furnished and fully-equipped from fluffy towels and crisp white linen to power showers and flat screen TVs.

Each lodge has a jaw-dropping view of the Atlantic with a furnished wooden deck.

The VIP lodges also have a log burning stove, perfect for toasty evenings in after a day’s bracing sea air, and a hot tub on the deck.

Couples will love our new Lakeside Signature studio lodges, designed with romance in mind. Your own private hot tub adds to the sense of indulgence.

Your luxury kitchen is well equipped for all you need (right down to a garlic press) but if you prefer to let someone else do the cooking, The Terrace restaurant features a tasty choice of dishes for all ages. We’ll even deliver meals to your lodge.

There’s so much on the doorstep – hire a bike to explore the local area or take the scenic 10 minute walk down to the wide sandy beach at the charming harbour village of Portreath. The beach is one of the most beautiful in the whole of the west country.

Back at base, we offer a fantastic range of year-round facilities. Take a dip in the heated indoor pool (where you can have a go at body-zorbing or try out a sea scooter), relax in the steam room, jacuzzi, sauna and spa. There’s also a nine-hole golf course, fishing lake, tennis courts and Basecamp, one of Cornwall’s largest indoor play areas.

For kids, we have an outdoor play area and our own wildlife centre, Feadon Farm. Learn about conservation and wildlife whilst hand-feeding one our tame rescue foxes or fly a bird of prey. You can head out on a badger-watch or rock-pooling too.

We offer weekend and mid-week breaks for couples and families – we’re confident that a couple of nights here will leave you feeling as if you’ve had a week’s holiday.
