Perfect Prague

Annabelle's verdict:

If there’s a city to beat Prague for romance, even in winter, I’ve yet to find it. Cobbled streets lined with medieval mansions converted into firelit cafes and restaurants, soaring churches that host concerts and recitals and gorgeous hotels such as The Augustine, a 13th century monastery, or the luxy Four Seasons, right on the river. Pray for snow, take your woollies and prepare to be loved-up.

Abercrombie & Kent says

Prague never fails to charm with its fabulous gothic and art deco architecture, gourmet restaurants and lively bars – perfect for a city break at any time of year.

We recommend you stay in the castle district at Augustine, formerly the 13th century St Thomas church, monastery and brewery and now a luxurious hotel off Mala Strana.

Relax in the elegant but comfortable public areas and spacious rooms, all with stunning views. Indulge in the indoor pool and spa after a day’s walking through the cobbled streets – we recommend the intoxicating St. Thomas Beer Body Ritual, created using a secret monk’s recipe.

There’s a glorious Four Seasons Hotel in Prague too, located on a bank of the Vltava River.

The old town has a fairy-tale charm. See the striking Gothic Town Hall and its unique astronomical clock in Old Town Square and visit the Jewish Quarter (birthplace of Franz Kafka) to see the Jewish Museum, the Old-New Synagogue and the very moving Jewish Cemetery.

The 14th century Charles Bridge is pure romance and don’t miss the picturesque Lesser Town. It’s full of captivating history and gems such as the beautiful baroque St Nicholas Church and the Carmelitan Church of Our Lady Victorious, with its famous statue of the Holy Infant Jesus of Prague.

Prague has a rich musical history. The Czech Museum of Music is within the former Baroque church of St Mary Magdalene in the Little Quarter, and you can enjoy a private walk through the Estate Theatre for a fascinating understanding of the life and work of W.A. Mozart.

Our expert team can tailor make your trip to suit your interests. A four-night city break in Prague, staying at The Augustine, costs from £1,115 based on two sharing, also including economy flights, half-day walking tour and private return transfers.
