Adventures for kids

Our verdict:

Great news from kids' adventure specialist PGL - their short-breaks mean kids can have a taster couple of days without having to commit to a whole week away. PGL centres offer the chance to try everything from circus skills to dragon-boat racing, all with the glorious freedom of being entirely independent of boring old Mum and Dad.

PGL says

With more than 50 years’ experience pioneering children’s activity holidays, our mission has always been to provide a unique mix of adventure, freedom and friendship in a safe and caring environment.

We host children aged seven up to 17, split into three age groups, in the UK and in France as well as adventure holidays for the whole family.

Our one to four night breaks allow your children to experience all the fun of our full-week holidays when time doesn’t allow – or if you feel a week is too long for them to be away from home.

Our ‘kids only’ Introductory Adventures cost from £99 for one night including all activities, equipment, instruction, food and accommodation. The cost is refunded if you book again. Places are limited so early booking is highly recommended – choose from 12 centres across the UK. There is also an option for a two-night Introductory Adventure.

We also offer three and four nights Multi Activity breaks at a wide range of locations. With expert tuition and careful supervision, children can try their hand at any number of activities such as abseiling, circus skills, orienteering, pony trekking, dragon boat racing and fencing.

Our two-, three- and four-night family adventure breaks, in a choice of six locations in England, Wales and Scotland, cost from £145 per adult and £125 per child including daytime and evening activities and all meals. Activities for all the family might include raft-building, zip-lining, quad-biking and abseiling, for example. It’s the perfect way for all the family to pack in a fun and action-packed few days together.

At all of our centres, accommodation is clean, comfortable and spacious, varying from hotel-style rooms to chalets.
