Sally’s Cottages says

The Lake District needs no introduction – suffice to say it’s a Unesco World Heritage Site, the UK’s first ever National Park and arguably the best place in Britain to stretch your legs and enjoy some eye-popping scenery.

There’s no shortage of holiday rental properties in the Lake District but if you are looking for the finest traditional and contemporary cottages, from luxurious family houses to cosy bolt holes for two, we think you’ll love what we offer. Our locally-based team has grown since we started with just one cottage in Eskdale – now offering over 500 properties across the Lake District and Cumbria, we will help you find the perfect holiday home and share our insider knowledge to make the most of your stay.

We’ve highlighted the most romantic cottages, our pick of the best family-friendly properties and those which are dog-friendly.

To give you a taste of the options available, we’ve picked out a few favourites.

Located bang on the shoreline of Lake Windermere, The Hideaway is a beautifully presented period apartment with direct lake access from shared gardens – it even comes with its own private boat mooring. There are two double bedrooms and a cheering log burner for cosy nights in.

Castlegate House has spectacular views towards the Solway Coast from its village location in Hayton. There are four bedrooms which can accommodate up to eight guests plus two dogs; the vast lawned gardens and patio also feature a huge hot tub.

Kirkbank is a stunning house in Eskdale. It has four bedrooms sleeping up to six – not only is it in a glorious location overlooking the fells, close to the coast, but it also boasts a grand piano, outdoor bath, fire pit and state of the art kitchen.

If romance is in the air, check out Herdwick Hut at Deepdale Hall. This comfortable and bijou gem is set on a working farm. Aside from all the creature comforts, you’ll find spectacular walks such as Helvellyn, Place Fell, Angle Tarn and Ullswater Way on your doorstep.

Larger groups of family and friends will love Wood Hall which comfortably accommodates up to 18 and is tucked away in glorious countryside close to Cockermouth. It’s the perfect choice for a celebratory break.
