Amazing Madagascar

Mark and David's verdict:

Renowned for its profusion of wildlife and flora, 80 per cent of which can be found nowhere else on Earth, Madagascar is a nature lover's dream. The island's unique evolutionary path has produced elephant birds, giant lemurs and pygmy hippos. It also offers dazzling beaches and clear turquoise waters teeming with marine life.

Wild Frontiers says

A holiday in Madagascar is one of the world’s truly exclusive experiences: unique wildlife, dramatic scenery, a paradise of island archipelagos and unspoiled beaches for nature lovers. The world’s fourth largest island, there is nowhere else like it on Earth.

  • Spectacular scenery
  • Tailor made itineraries
  • Unique wildlife

Madagascar’s infrastructure has been improved, yet the country remains off the radar of the masses and retains an air of enticing mystery.

We offer a wide and flexible range of small group tours and tailor made holidays, from off-road adventures to romantic honeymoons.

Our signature group trip is Madagascar Encompassed, a spectacular three week immersion in all that makes Madagascar so special. Travelling by minibus, 4WD and a two-day river boat trip, we’ll take you off the beaten path to iconic Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park as well as the lemurs in Anja and Ranofamana, Isalo National Park, the baobabs and time with the Mikea hunter-gatherers.

If you have less time available, our two-week Off-Road Adventure takes in all of the above without Tsingy and the river boat trip.

Classic Madagascar has a greater emphasis on comfort, travelling on tarmacked roads (making it possible year-round) – one of the many highlights is the chance to see the Indri Indri lemur in Andasibe.

The Essence of Madagascar is a two-week private tour. Experience the Central Highlands and Ranomafana National Park before heading on to Andringitra National Park, with its renowned hiking trails and spectacular backdrops. Seek out rare lemurs before continuing on towards Isalo National Park. Finish up relaxing on the white sands of Ifaty and the Mozambique Channel.

On our Glorious East private tour, the focus is eastern Madagascar’s extraordinary landscapes and includes Andasibe National Park, home to 11 species of lemur, the Panagalanes Canal, the old pirate haunt of Ile Ste Marie and Masoala National Park.

Discover the landscapes, rare birds and waterfalls of Amber Mountain National Park and Andrafiamena Special Reserve before heading to the Ankara Special Reserve on our Highlights of Northern Madagascar private holiday. Relax on the island paradise of Nosy Be – swim and snorkel in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and enjoy the golden beaches and delicious seafood.

The best time to visit Madagascar is between April and December.
