Go wild in Zambia

Our verdict:

If you’re looking for a family safari with the wow factor, try Zambia. Not only is the wildlife legendary, but you’ll also find superb lodges with great guides, imaginative activities and top-notch facilities for families. Victoria Falls is the icing on the cake. Kids will love the adventure activities too.

Zambia is the perfect location to enjoy an authentic, uncrowded and exciting experience of Africa as a family.

  • amazing wildlife
  • easy flights
  • good for summer

You can fly directly from the UK, an important consideration when travelling with children. And with just a couple of hours’ time difference, you’ll settle in immediately.

Zambia, particularly the South Luangwa National Park, is teeming with wildlife. We have handpicked lodges to suit all ages (from 6 years upwards) with outstanding guides who will encourage your children to learn about all that they are seeing – and enjoy a lesson in African drumming or learn how to make clay pots using traditional methods.

Enjoy interactive game drives and, for the over-12s, walking safaris. Younger children can also head off on foot to learn about the different bugs and insects and how to track animals by their footprints and spoor.

Our Zambia Fly-In Safari is a great introduction to this fascinating country, taking in the South Luangwa National Park and the Lower Zambezi National Park.

Throughout Zambia, we will match your accommodation to suit your style – the more intrepid may opt for a bush camp, or you can choose to relax in comfort in beautiful, permanent structured lodges.

The perfect end to a safari holiday in Zambia is a stay in Livingstone, on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls. Stay on the banks of the upper Zambezi, and try white water rafting, bungee jumping, canoeing, horse riding and micro-lighting too. Check out this fabulous itinerary, for example.

The best game viewing is between May and October, making Zambia a great choice for the summer holidays.
