Activities Abroad says

If you are looking for an action-packed family holiday in the summer, we have a variety of trips suitable for teenagers and older children in particular.

  • adventure
  • good value
  • teen-only weeks

We understand the importance of making sure there are other children around of a similar age – on our summer holidays, we even have ‘teenage only’ dates which are restricted to families with children aged 12 years and over. We also ‘age match’ on some of our holidays.

There’s no kids’ clubs as such and everything is geared around parents and children participating in the various activities together – with expert tuition, quality equipment and guidance on hand.

Accommodation is in comfortable lodges, hotels and hostels and groups vary in size between four and 34, depending on each trip.

For older teens, we have some more challenging options such as tubing down a gorge in Turkey, discovering the underwater world surrounding the Maltese island of Gozo and white water rafting in Croatia.

Other favourites for families with teenagers are canoeing, surfing and orienteering on the Alentejo Coast in Portugal, canyoning and swimming with dolphins in the The Azores and whale-watching in Madeira.

Closer to home, ghyll scrambling, mountaineering and abseiling in the Lake District is a popular choice.
