Luxury family skiing

Our verdict:

A family skiing holiday is always fun but, let’s be honest, it can also be hard work: excess luggage, cold fingers and toes leading to meltdowns and plenty of falling over (and that’s just me). Step forward Scott Dunn who ensure that skiing in the Alps or US really is a blast for parents and kids, from excellent ski schools to hotels that make every bit of your trip easier by offering fabulous extras like private transfers, hot chocolate on demand and oh-so-patient nannies.

Scott Dunn says

If you’re looking for a luxurious family ski holiday in Europe or North America, welcome to our world. We’re passionate about skiing (with our own families too) so we know what works (and what doesn’t!).

  • Luxury hotels & chalets
  • Concierge service
  • North American resorts

We have over 30 years’ experience and first hand knowledge of the best family hotels, room types, flight timings – and resorts with short transfer times.

We have built up close relationships with the best ski schools in all the destinations we work with and our dedicated ski school booking concierge can advice on the right ski lessons for your children. We can even arrange a heli-skiing adventure for the ultimate wow factor.

The Alps are home to first-class skiing for families. We have scoured the resorts for the best hotels, from small boutique properties to larger luxury properties in Zermatt, St Moritz, Lech, St Anton and The Dolomites, as well as in Courchevel 1850 and Val d’Isère.

If you want access to child care while you ski, check out our revered Scott Dunn Explorers kids clubs in Val d’Isère and the Portetta in Courchevel 1650, an intimate and characterful hotel.  Operating six days a week for children aged four months to 11 years, it’s the perfect way for youngsters to get involved in a range of activities for as little or as much time as they wish while you enjoy a leisurely Savoyarde lunch in the mountains or simply a day’s skiing to yourselves.

In Val d’Isère, our portfolio of luxurious catered chalets offer exceptional service including your own private chef and host and optional private nannies.

During school holidays in Val d’Isère our Pioneers programme is for ages eight and over. After their ski lessons in the mornings, they can take part in action-packed afternoons with our Scott Dunn Rangers. We also offer Ski Explorers to give three and four year olds a taste of skiing without the pressure of a structured lesson.

Across the pond, North America‘s world-class ski resorts – Whistler, Vail and Beaver Creek in Colorado, Utah and the bucket-list destination of Jackson Hole – offer vast ski areas with incredible snow records. They are heaven for powder hounds and the pistes are groomed with military precision, creating ideal conditions for children and beginners.

As well as being highly service-orientated, the resort activities – from snow-tubing to heli-skiing – are a reason in themselves to venture to North America’s snowy resorts. Choose from such iconic hotel brands as Four Seasons, Aman Resorts and Ritz-Carlton to boutique gems such as The Little Nell in Aspen.
