Ibiza for cool kids

Amanda's verdict
If you danced the noughties away in Ibiza but you’re now heading back with family and (a hint of) respectability, the Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay is ideal. Close enough to Ibiza Town for a blast from the past but quiet enough to be family-friendly. Or luxuriate at the 7Pines Resort with its spacious suites, attentive service and scented pine forest surrounds.

Of all the Balearic islands, it’s Ibiza that steals our hearts for family holidays. There are two hotels on this pretty and laid back island that tick the family boxes – which one is for you…?

  • contemporary hotels
  • beachfront
  • private pool option

The Nobu Ibiza Bay Hotel is a cool and contemporary hotel set in a stunning position on Ibiza’s Talamanca Bay, just a 15-minute transfer from the airport and 2km from Ibiza Town.

It’s perfect for families seeking a chic and child-friendly bolthole. We love the contemporary design, the spacious and light guest rooms and suites and the laid-back beach vibe.

The choice of four eateries includes Nobu restaurant, famous for its superb Japanese fusion cuisine, and there’s a delicious healthy spin to the food wherever you eat. Breakfast in Chamboa restaurant is enjoyed with your toes in the sand so you can relax while the children play.

Aside from direct access to the gorgeous sandy beach, facilities include swimming pools, a spa, yoga pavilion, fitness centre and beach club. There’s a Kids Club for ages four to 14 years, open daily between 10am and 10pm (payable locally). Activities include movie nights, football on the beach, cookery lessons and DJ workshops. The Kids Club team also offer baby-sitting (payable locally).

7Pines Resort Ibiza is a tranquil and elegant five-star all-suite resort in the style of a traditional village, with white-washed low-level buildings surrounded by pine groves. We recommend the one- and two-bedroom Garden Suites with a private pool – these spacious suites are located at the ground level, spread across the Ibicenco Village section.

Families are welcome with special menus, welcome gifts and toiletries just for children and the concierge is on hand to suggest an array of child-friendly activities and places to explore further afield. The hotel’s spa is one of the best in the Balearics.

Baby-sitting is available on request and there’s a family swimming pool.

Whichever hotel you choose, we highly recommend hiring a car and touring round Ibiza – enjoy beach-hopping, Phoenician excavations and the old town with its castle keep viewpoints from the top of the hill, maze of tiny streets, lovely shops and restaurants.
