Help families to have a break

Amanda's verdict
Taking your kids on holiday is one of life’s great pleasures, but it’s not something that every parent can afford. There are more than 2 million children in the UK whose families don't have the money or support for even a day trip to the seaside. That’s why we proudly support the Family Holiday Charity, which works to provide much-needed breaks for families in need.

101 Holidays supports: Family Holiday Charity

Family Holiday Charity says

If you love to travel, you’ll be familiar with the sense of relief and release you feel as you pack your suitcase, board a plane, book into a hotel or simply head to the coast for a day out. Many are the ways that the ‘…and relax’ moment comes over us.

For many UK families, a break is completely out of reach. For a wide range of reasons, many will never feel the benefits of time away and time with each other.

Family Holiday Charity is here for children who’ve never seen the sea. For teenagers who can’t remember when they last saw mum smile. For parents having to choose between a day out and a pair of school shoes. For young carers, and families facing illness, isolation, or bereavement. We help by offering holidays and day trips; breaks that make a big difference.

Holidays open up new possibilities. There’s time to reconnect, to try new things, and to make happy memories together. Time for running, playing, climbing trees and flying kites, time for picnics and bare feet. There’s time enough to share a laugh and watch the tide come in – for buckets and spades and sandy sandwiches.

Once we find out what each family needs, we take care of all the details. That way families can take care of the most important thing – each other.

Families are referred to us for a holiday by someone who is working with them in a professional capacity – someone like a healthcare or social worker, keyworker, teacher or another charity. This means that families get the support they need to make the most of their holiday, but it also means we have confidence that our breaks are reaching those who need them the most.

All our holidays are in the UK and are for families living across the UK. We were established in 1975 and have been helping families to go on life changing holidays ever since – more than 55,000 of them.

We can’t do any of this without the support of people like you who understand what a holiday means. So, we’ll organise the breaks, but it’s you who will make the difference to thousands of families across the UK.
