Chia Laguna Resort

Amanda's verdict
It’s something of a cliché but Italians love families and it shows in the way they look after kids on holiday. One of my favourite Italian destinations is not on the mainland but Sardinia with its stunning beaches and mountainous interior. The island has some world-class family resorts too like Chia Laguna, easy to reach at just an hour from Cagliari airport.

One of the best places for families to stay on the beautiful island of Sardinia is Chia Laguna Resort. Just a few minutes’ walk from superb sandy beaches and lagoons, the resort offers a choice of four hotels and plenty to entertain and delight children of all ages. It’s less than an hour’s drive from Cagliari airport.

  • superb location
  • sport and activities
  • kids clubs

Chia Laguna is part of the Italian Hospitality Collection and has received many awards and accolades, including Seven Stars Family Resort and Italy’s Leading Family Resort at the World Travel Awards.

It offers an impressive range of activities and experiences for all the family. There is a choice of nine restaurants, eight bars, five pools, a spa and wellness centre plus an elegant piazza complete with shops, bars, restaurants and evening entertainment.

Hotel Spazio Oasi is an intimate four-star option with just 34 rooms and spectacular views. It’s ideal for smaller families – the Oasi Family Rooms are particularly spacious.

The four-star Hotel Baia opened in 2018 and has a cool, contemporary style. There’s a 25m-long swimming pool and a dedicated pool area for young children. The four-star Hotel Village has a wide choice of family accommodation including interconnecting rooms.

The five-star Hotel Laguna is well suited to families with children of all ages looking for an even more luxurious experience.

The resort’s activities and entertainment shows are popular with children from toddlers to teenagers. There’s a nursery and four age-banded clubs for kids and teens. Children have their own Bimbi Restaurant and will enjoy taking the ‘Chia Express’ train to the beach or to see the pink flamingoes in the nearby lagoon.

There’s a wide range of water sports, tennis courts, horse-riding and cycling trails plus the resort hosts its own Dance Academy and Football Academy in August, for ages five to 14.

A family holiday at Chia Laguna is all about relaxation, outstanding cuisine and shared experiences – set against a backdrop of Sardinia’s natural beauty.
