Chia Laguna Resort

Amanda's verdict
It’s something of a cliché but Italians love families and it shows in the way they look after kids on holiday. One of my favourite Italian destinations is not on the mainland but Sardinia with its stunning beaches and mountainous interior. The island has some world-class family resorts too like Chia Laguna, easy to reach at under an hour from Cagliari airport.

One of the best places for families to stay on the beautiful island of Sardinia is Chia Laguna Resort. Just a few minutes’ walk from superb sandy beaches and lagoons, the resort offers a choice of three hotels and plenty to entertain and delight children of all ages. It’s less than an hour’s drive from Cagliari airport.

  • superb location

  • kids clubs

Chia Laguna is part of the Italian Hospitality Collection and the luxury Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand; it has received many awards and accolades, including Seven Stars Family Resort and Italy’s Leading Family Resort at the World Travel Awards.

It offers an impressive range of activities and experiences for all the family. There is a choice of nine restaurants, eight bars, five pools, a spa and wellness centre plus an elegant piazza complete with shops, bars, restaurants and evening entertainment.

The five-star Hotel Village has a wide choice of cottage-style family accommodation including interconnecting rooms. This is perfect for a relaxed family holiday surrounded by lush gardens a stone’s throw from the beach.

The four-star Hotel Baia di Chia has a cool, contemporary style and was beautifully renovated in 2021. It sits in a prime position on the promontory above the fabulous golden beach and blue-hued bay. There’s a 25m-long swimming pool and a dedicated pool area for young children.

The elegant five-star Conrad Chia Laguna is well suited to families with children of all ages looking for an even more luxurious experience. It’s tranquil and stylish with incredible views of the lagoon and its colourful flamingoes.

The resort’s activities and entertainment shows are popular with children from toddlers to teenagers. There’s a nursery and four age-banded clubs for kids and teens. Children have their own Bimbi Restaurant and will enjoy taking the ‘Chia Express’ train to the beach or to see the pink flamingoes in the nearby lagoon.

There’s a wide range of water sports, tennis courts, horse-riding and cycling trails plus the resort hosts its own Dance Academy and Football Academy in August, for ages five to 14.

A family holiday at Chia Laguna is all about relaxation, outstanding cuisine and shared experiences – set against a backdrop of Sardinia’s natural beauty.
