Ancient Egypt

Amanda's verdict
Egypt works so well for families. There is the excitement of seeing spectacular historical sites such as the Pyramids and Luxor and the Egyptian people are just lovely. Taking a luxury cruise under sail along the Nile, watching the feluccas in the sunset, is something you and your kids will never forget. Travelling with an expert like Cox & Kings makes all the difference.

Cox & Kings says

Egypt is one of our most popular destinations for escorted tours and city breaks but we have increasingly been asked by our clients to create an Egypt adventure for families.

  • sail along the Nile
  • experienced guides
  • fascinating itinerary

Perhaps your children are fascinated by the Pharaohs, hieroglyphics and all things Egyptian or it might be your dream to see Egypt’s ancient history come to life. Either way, families will find Egypt inspiring, adventurous, exciting and intoxicating with such rich experiences for children of all ages as well as their parents.

Our Dahabeya Family Adventure is the stuff of dreams – an eleven-night trip which combines a week’s luxurious cruise under sail along the Nile with a few nights in Cairo.

The Sonesta Dahabeya Amirat is designed to echo the gracious atmosphere of the sailing vessels which carried aristocracy along the Nile in the 1920s and ’30s. There are just eight cabins and suites – there’s an option to charter the entire vessel just for your party.

You’ll visit ancient temples as you meander from Aswan to Luxor, mooring up each night beside an island in the Nile.

Other highlights include time in the Valley of the Kings and Queens, the pyramids and a private tour of the awe-inspiring Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

There’s plenty of leisure time built in to the itinerary and our Egypt team can tailor-make your holiday to suit any specific interests.

All our tour guides are as friendly, knowledgeable and experienced in guiding children as they are highly qualified (to degree level in Egyptology as a minimum).
