Ancient Egypt

Our verdict:

Egypt works so well for families. There is the excitement of seeing spectacular historical sites such as the Pyramids and Luxor, the natural beauty of the Red Sea both above and below the water and the Egyptian people are just lovely. Taking a luxury train along the Nile, watching the feluccas in the sunset, is something you and your kids will never forget. Travelling with an expert like On The Go makes all the difference.

On the Go Tours says

Perhaps your children are fascinated by the Pharaohs, hieroglyphics and all things Egyptian or it might be your dream to see Egypt’s ancient history come to life. Either way, families will find Egypt inspiring, adventurous, fascinating, exciting and intoxicating with such rich experiences for children of all ages as well as their parents.

Egypt is our heartland – it’s where we started back in 1998 and it remains our most popular destination.

On all these trips, accommodation is in four and five star luxury hotels – and on some, there’s also a night in a First Class sleeper cabin on board the train from Cairo to Luxor.

Our 10-day Classic Family Adventure is for all ages over five and is an immersion in all things Egyptian. As well as seeing the classic sites, you and your family will also visit a local primary school, villages, markets and the Citadel Bazaar, enjoy a boat trip to Sahal Island for lunch with a village family and see the Luxor Temple illuminated at night.

Pharaohs Adventure for Teens is our most popular trip. You’ll see the Pyramids and Sphinx, the Egyptian Museum, the Valley of the Kings, Colossi and Memnon and the Temple of Hatshepsut.

Egyptian Explorer is based on the same five-day itinerary with the added bonus of three nights’ R&R snorkelling or diving in Hurghada on the Red Sea coast.

On our family trips, the maximum group size is 24, with an average of 8. Most of our family tours are for ages five to 18 with a child rate for under-12s. Some trips are designed specifically for families with teenagers.

All our tour guides are as friendly, knowledgeable and experienced in guiding children as they are highly qualified (to degree level in Egyptology as a minimum).

For single parents, we can offer a triple share on these tours, with a single parent sharing the room with their two children. We can also guarantee parents and children/teenagers will be in rooms side by side or directly opposite each other. We can also request families will have interconnecting rooms however we cannot guarantee this.

Our expert team can also tailor-make a private tour for your family.
