Real Holidays says
Umbria is the core of our Italian Portfolio. In addition to delightful small hotels, we have unearthed a wonderful selection of villas set in Umbria’s beautiful rolling countryside, from small cottages ideal for a couple to large villas suitable for extended families or groups of friends.
One of our most popular villas is Fondo le Teglie in southern Umbria. Fondo’s shaded courtyard with wood burning grill and pizza oven is perfect for al fresco living. The interior is spacious with well appointed bedrooms, sleeping up to 12.
Also in the south, Casa del Conte is a converted 17th century farmhouse with the remains of a medieval tower in the gardens. Whilst the views towards Todi make the outdoor space here rather special, the interior is breathtaking. Sleeping up to ten, Conte is filled with beautiful antiques and has an impressive library along with a well equipped kitchen and cosy living room.
We think a week here combines very well with Casale dei Lanci in the north of the region. From its hilltop position, Lanci offers spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. If you can tear yourselves away, explore the delights of nearby sleepy Montone and elegant Gubbio.
If you prefer village life, Pieve di Comunaglia is a recently restored medieval hamlet complete with a large outdoor pool for residents to share. Charming Ca di Gatti and L’Olivo are set in the heart of the village, each with their own private pool, beautiful antiques and hand-painted tiles.

Umbria is sometimes overshadowed by Tuscany, its more glamorous neighbour. In fact, it is a slice of Italy unclotted by tourists. See Renaissance art, discover medieval hilltowns, vineyards and stunning towns such as Orvieto, Perugia and Assisi. Umbria has everything you want from Italy except a seaside – but it does have a nice lake at Trasimeno.
