Recommended place to stay: Hisa Franko

In the northwest of Slovenia close to the Italian border, the pristine waters of the River Soca race across the valley floor past alpine meadows and snow-dusted mountain peaks. It’s the perfect setting for a high-octane activity holiday.
Our 10-night group trip will take you to the region’s most beautiful spots, and some of its best-kept secrets. It begins with a picturesque walk in the mountains and the remarkable Tolminka Gorge, then moves onto high-adrenalin adventures including canyoning, kayaking, rock climbing, tubing, white-water rafting and mini-rafting.
And if that leaves you feeling a tad breathless, worry not. You can do as few or as many of the activities as you choose during your stay, and there are a couple of free days thrown in.
Our base is the charming small town of Tolmin which sits on the River Soca and provides a genuinely Slovenian welcome. We feel it provides a welcome respite from the coach-trip honey pots of Lake Bohinj and Lake Bled, and the increasingly touristy town of Bovec.
Prices in Slovenia remain low despite the strength of the Euro against the Pound, making this a great-value activity holiday in a fabulous natural setting.
