Wightlink says
Whether you’re a history enthusiast or food lover, one of our themed breaks on the Isle of Wight is a must.
The island boasts a rich history of dinosaurs, Romans, smugglers, medieval knights, imprisoned royals, inventors, rock heroes and rocket men. All this is revealed in the Wight History Trail which guides you to attractions like Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle and the Needles Battery as you unearth the unusual and, sometimes astounding.
Two-night B&B breaks start at £115 pp.
For foodies, a stay at Ventnor’s Michelin-starred Hambrough (from £200 pp for 2 nights B&B) is a highlight of the Wight Taste Trail which profiles local food champions including Best British Cheese winner Richard Hodgson, poultry farmers Paul and Sue Brownrigg, and the Garlic Farm’s Colin Boswell. Several other gourmet hotels are also featured on the trail.
All our breaks include Wightlink car ferry crossings from Portsmouth to Fishbourne, or Lymington to Yarmouth. Foot passengers can also travel by catamaran between Portsmouth and Ryde.
