With such poor weather in July, we’ve struggled to find as many great offers this week as sun-seekers abandon plans for a ‘staycation’ and book up what remains of the summer availability in the Med. That said, we’ve managed to track down some August deals.
Vintage Travel is offering £500 off a week’s villa rental from August 2 on the island of Kefalonia. Sleeping up to 6 in a 3-bedroom house with private pool, a week’s stay at Villa Aetos now costs £1,595. Aetos is situated near the village of Vassilikades on the Erissos peninsula in the north of Kefalonia and has fantastic sea views from the terraces and gardens. Flights and car hire extra.
Also in Kefalonia, SunIsle Holidays is offering free car hire worth over £200 at the Metaxatos Studios during August. One week costs £263 pp based on 2 sharing; flights are not included. Located close to both a secluded sandy beach and the tavernas of Lassi, each apartment has a sea-facing private terrace and use of a shared pool.
Departing August 28, PCI Holidays is offering 20% off the cost of a week’s rental at Villa Coral in the harbour resort of Llafranc on the Costa Brava. Now costing £1,688 for up to 8 people (a saving of £422), this 4-bedroom villa has a private pool and is within walking distance of the charming Llafranc beach and village. The nearest airport is Gerona (flights not included).
Anatolian Sky is offering a week from August 31 at the 3* Prince of Caunos hotel in Dalyan from £529 pp on a B&B basis, a saving of £170 pp. This charming family-run hotel, with its tranquil riverside setting, is a short walk from the centre of Dalyan, 40 minutes by boat to Iztuzu beach and a 25-minute walk to the Caunos ruins.
Long Travel has availability in Sicily on various dates departing in August, staying at Villa Tommaso from £277 pp per week and Villa Alfredo from £230 pp per week including a hire car. Villa Tommaso (pictured left) is an old castle, a short walk from the hilltop town of Castelbuono while Villa Alfredo (centre and right) is a group of farmworkers’ houses on a farm (which also produces great organic olive oil).
Mark Warner has a saving of £410 pp at the San Lucianu Beach Resort in Corsica. Activities on offer include sailing, windsurfing, tennis, canoeing, fitness programme and children’s clubs. One week full-board departing Gatwick on August 1, 8, 15 or 22 costs £898 pp.
