Special offers for Christmas holidays are rare as hen’s teeth, not least for the Indian Ocean hotspot of Mauritius but here’s one from Beachcomber Tours – save 25% off accommodation at a choice of luxury hotels. The only proviso is that you check out on or before December 27.

Stay at Trou aux Biches, reopening in November after a stunning refurbishment, and you can save 25% right through to January 8 2011.

Departing December 19, a week at Le Mauricia costs  £2,353 pp all-inclusive (saving £306 pp). A week at the Trou Aux Biches costs £3,567 pp half-board (saving £747 pp).
