Today’s tip comes from Sarina Singh, a widely published freelance writer and author of 30 Lonely Planet guidebooks.

Sarina recommends: “The fort-inspired hillside Aodhi, a country retreat in Kumbhalgarh, Rajasthan. Earthy charm, jungle rooms, breezy terraces, open-air pool, winter bonfires and it’s close to historic Kumbhalgarh Fort.” Double rooms from US$140.

Today’s hotel tip comes from Angela Corrias, an Italian journalist who writes about travel and politics. Angela is the latest of more than 50 travel writers who have contributed personal hotel recommendations to 101 Holidays.

The rules are simple: each hotel must charge no more than £150 ($250) a night for a double room. And – in the spirit of Twitter – each recommendation must be no more than 140 characters in length.

Angela recommends: “Hotel Foz do Iguaçu in Southern Brazil, close to the wonderful Iguaçu waterfalls: exquisitely friendly staff, huge and diverse breakfast buffet, comfortable rooms.” Weekend rates for a double room start at around £125.

Today’s hotel tip comes from one of Britain’s most prolific travel writers. Mike Gerrard‘s work has appeared in most UK national newspapers, along with numerous travel magazines, and newspapers in the USA including the Washington Post. He has also written or contributed to more than 40 guide books.

Mike is the latest of more than 50 travel writers who have contributed personal hotel recommendations to 101 Holidays. Each place to stay charges no more than £150 ($250) a night for a double room.

Here at 101 Holidays we regularly ask leading travel writers on Twitter to recommend a favourite hotel where they would pay to stay. The price limit is a modest £150 ($250) a night for a double room, and – in the spirit of Twitter – we ask each writer to make their recommendation in 140 characters or less.

Today’s tip comes from Abigail King, a full time writer who is passionate about travel. Her work has appeared in National Geographic’s Intelligent Travel and France Today.

Abigail recommends: “Jaen Parador, Andalusia, inside a fortress on a hilltop. Carved shutters, roaring fires, olive groves, suits of armour.” Double rooms cost from €148 excluding breakfast.

Here at 101 Holidays we regularly ask travel writers to recommend a favourite hotel where they would pay to stay. Today we’re extending the invitation to Jeanne Dee, a writer and former actress from Santa Cruz, California, who along with her husband and nine-year-old daughter has been travelling the world constantly for the past three years.

During that time they have travelled more than 150,000 miles and visited more than 30 countries. They are known on the web as soultravelers3.

We asked Jeanne – currently in Andalucia – to pick her favourite of all the hotels her family has stayed. She recommended: “The architect-owned Dar Seffarine, an authentic, intimate, enchanting riad in Fez Medina. It feels like time travel and being a guest at the Alhambra!” Double rooms from €70, B&B.

Our quest to find the world’s best-value hotels continues. We’ve been asking leading travel writers on Twitter to each nominate a personal favourite place – where they would pay to stay. It can be anywhere in the world. The only rule is that a double room must cost no more than £150 ($250) a night.

Today’s tip comes from Fiona Cullinan, a travel writer, web editor and corporate blogger, who has worked for The Independent on Sunday, Sunday Mirror, Take A Break and Red magazine.
