Atlantis The Palm, Dubai

David & Mark's verdict

You can shop for gold or charge across the desert dunes in a 4WD, but what Dubai does best, besides almost guaranteed winter sunshine, is hotels. They range from the sophisticated to the sensational. If bling isn't your thing, don't worry - there are some seriously stylish alternatives.

Tropical Sky says

Our favourite hotel in Dubai is the incomparable Atlantis The Palm. This spectacular resort offers relaxation and thrills for couples and families alike, with its own waterpark, pristine white beaches, world-class cuisine, indulgent spa and boutique shops.

The Atlantis is a lavish mix of the historical and ultra modern, and epitomises Dubai’s opulence and extravagance. You can stay in one of the underwater Lost Chamber Suites (pictured top centre), with views directly into the Ambassador Lagoon, home to more than 250 species of fish and sea creatures.

Alternatively, book the Bridge Suite, which spans the Royal Towers above the hotel’s signature arch. It boasts floor-to-ceiling views over Dubai and the Arabian Gulf and has its own personal butler, private elevator, gold-leaf dining table seating 16 guests, and a library with state-of-the-art media centre.

With Atlantis The Palm offering everything from shark-infested lagoons to Michelin-starred chefs, you could easily spend your entire holiday in resort. However, with Dubai’s extensive range of shopping malls, the world’s tallest building, and world-class leisure and sporting facilities on your doorstep, we encourage you to explore. At least take a day away from the metropolis to go dune-bashing in the desert sands.
