Will and Sally's verdict

Antigua is the Caribbean without complications. World-class beaches, direct flights from the UK, short transfers and charming local people make it perfect for families. We’ve selected a great value all-inclusive hotel that boasts two sheltered beaches, spacious suites and a free kids club. Your job: just relax and enjoy.

The Verandah Resort & Spa – with 30 acres of beach, pools and gardens on the edge of the Devil’s Bridge National Park – is a great choice for families with children of all ages. It’s all-inclusive too, so there will be no nasty surprises on the bill when you check out.

Antigua is known for its glorious white sand beaches – there are 365 of them – and the two beaches at The Verandah are spectacular, and set in a cove so there’s safe swimming year-round.

The Kids Club and adventure playground accepts children from the age of 2 years and is open from 9.30am to 10pm in the main season (up to 4.30pm at other times). Children’s meals are available in the club or they can dine with you in a choice of three restaurants. What’s more, it’s all included in the price.

There’s a children’s pool, of course, and family activities including non-motorised watersports (with free instruction), tennis, jeep tours and nature trails.

Accommodation is in a choice of spacious suites with spectacular views of the water or hillside; some are on the waterfront. There are two-bedroom villas too, ideal for larger families or those travelling with teenagers who want a bit more privacy.

Mums might want to escape to the beautiful spa and there’s a fully-equipped gym for fitness fanatics.
