Recommended tour operator: Hurtigruten

Hurtigruten says
Unlike a traditional cruise, a Hurtigruten voyage takes you close to the unique beauty of the Norwegian coast, and to the wildlife and people who live there.
As well as visiting magnificent fjords and enchanted islands, our fleet of 12 ships stop at no fewer than 33 ports of call. Many of the places you will visit are traditional villages and hamlets whose inhabitants depend on the Hurtigruten ships to bring essential supplies and connect family and friends. This unique style of cruising has earned us many accolades, including the 2008 British Travel Awards Best Niche Cruise Operator.
Our 12-day Classic Round Voyage is the ultimate way to discover Norway’s coast. You spend 6 nights travelling north from Bergen to Kirkenes and the magnificent North Cape, before the 5-night return leg. The journey cruises the Arctic Circle and meanders through the network of beautiful isles and islets that make up the Lofoten Islands.
With regular sailings, you can choose from a wide choice of departure dates and exciting shore excursions with English-speaking guides - everything from city sightseeing tours to traditional Viking feasts. Between October and March there is also a chance to see the Northern Lights.

Cruising Norway's fjord coast with Hurtigruten is a unique experience. Not only is the setting breathtakingly beautiful, but the fact that the ships also transport cargo and local people – who use the service to hop between ports – make it a fascinating cultural experience. It’s extremely comfortable, whether you want to take a long round trip or a short break.
