Bales Worldwide says
There is no more relaxing – or romantic – way to experience the wonders of Egypt than aboard one of our very own dahabiyyas. These stylish wood-crafted sailing vessels revive the days when aristocrats and sophisticated travellers cruised the Nile.
There are four boats – Zahra, Nesma, Amber and Musk – each of which is fitted out in 19th-century colonial style, with oriental and Egyptian touches and just six individually-decorated cabins.
Our dahabiyyas are available on a choice of two itineraries: a 12-day Nostalgic Nile journey or a 8-day cruise-only option. The former includes 3 days in Cairo staying at the Mena House Oberoi Hotel or Villa Belle Epoque, before embarking at Luxor or Aswan for a leisurely cruise. We use private moorings, away from the larger towns, and call at rarely-visited Nile islands.
At Bales Worldwide, we have taken pride for more than 60 years in offering our clients expert, knowledgeable advice, flexibility, the best possible service and attention to detail. Egypt is one of our original destinations, and we know it like the back of our hand.

Cruise the Upper Nile between Luxor and Aswan on a dahabiyya, a modern recreation of a 19th-century sailing boat. With just six colonial-style cabins and attentive service, this is a throwback to a more genteel age: breakfast served on deck, wicker chairs, dressing for dinner. Pack a well-thumbed Agatha Christie.
